Adama, Ethiopia — The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Directorate ay the Adama University Science and Technology (ASTU) has introduced new technologies for the 8th Public Universities Sport Festival. In the history of Public Universities’ Sport Festival, the Directorate has implemented the live streaming and electronic players’ substitution board which are not even attempted in national sport competition games.
The live streaming system helps spectators from all over the world to watch live games through the internet. In addition to this, the website which is separately developed for the sport festival has included various access to the media people in particular and the whole community in general. Daily sport schedules and results of respective games are uploaded for media people and the public.
It has been noted that the idea of electronic players’ substitution board has been initiated by Software Engineering students of ASTU. Appreciating the proposal, the ICT Directorate has provided all the necessary materials to students and given recognition for the implementation of the technology. On top of this, the Directorate has fixed CCTV cameras around the stadium to ease the security system of the campus. It has been reported that the Office has been strongly working to scale up the ICT service and many more new technologies will be implemented to enhance the teaching learning process of the university.
