BAHIR DAR — Twenty five students have been graduated from Ethiopian Maritime Academy in Engine Room Rating.
The graduates have successfully accomplished the 3 month training program and gained the necessary knowledge and skills required for their carrier.
At the ceremony, guest of honor of the ceremony, Baylie Damtie (PhD), President of BDU, after congratulating the graduates, has said “The academy was primarily set up to train students who have degree in …engineering fields”.
And, as Dr. Baylie said, “by widening its training access to citizens has trained students who received diploma from technical and vocational colleges and these graduates have become the pioneers”.
The president has further said that the university has planned to involve females who graduate from technical and vocational colleges in similar training.
The president has further noted that the academy is opening new training and international job opportunities for citizens and enabling them to benefit from the knowledge and skills they gained and lead better life.
Since its establishment the academy has trained over 900 Ethiopian marine engineers and presented them to the international market of the field.
