A CRAWLEY-BASED charity is looking for people to fund-raise by taking part in a 10km run – in Ethiopia.

Vision Aid Overseas, which has its UK headquarters in Newton Road, Manor Royal, will be offering fundraisers competing in the Great Ethiopian Run the opportunity to enjoy a six-day Ethiopian experience in return for their fundraising efforts.

Those taking part in the event for Vision Aid Overseas need to raise a minimum of £2,500.

The Great Ethiopian Run takes place in Addis Ababa on November 22, 2015, with 40,000 people from across the world expected to register to take part.

Vision Aid Overseas’ runners will have the chance to join a number of optional excursions prior to race day, including visiting one of the charity’s projects.

Vision Aid aims to raise £150,000 over the next 12 months from a variety of activities and initiatives.

This will help the organisation to help an additional 30,000 people in developing countries, including Ethiopia, to gain access to life-changing eye care services.

Vision Aid helps people with poor vision or debilitating eye conditions to access healthcare in some of the poorest areas of the world.

At its warehouse in Manor Royal the charity sorts through used glasses donated from around the UK which are recycled and sold on to raise funds.
