Vision Aid Overseas will offer fundraisers the opportunity to explore the highest city in Africa later this year by embarking on the Great Ethiopian Run 2015.
As part of its 30th Anniversary celebrations, the charity has announced the launch of a six-day ‘Ethiopian Experience’ trip.
Fundraisers would be offered a place in return for raising a minimum of £2,500 ahead of the 10km event, VAO said.
The iconic run was taking place in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa in November next year, with an expected 40,000 people registering to take part from across the globe.
VAO runners will fly from London on Wednesday November 18, and have the chance to join a number of optional excursions prior to race day. These excursions included visiting a VAO project and exploring what VAO said was the highest city in Africa.
The itinerary comprised of return flights from London to Addis Ababa, local transfers, five nights’ accommodation in the city, organised activities and race entry. Participants would also be supported with a training guide, kit and a fundraising toolkit.
VAO development director Jeremy Jalie said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to visit the beautiful country of Ethiopia, which is very rich in culture and character. It will also offer our supporters the opportunity to see first-hand some of the life changing work Vision Aid Overseas undertakes, thanks to the efforts of our amazing supporters.’
Overall, the charity hoped to raise £150,000 over the next 12 months.
