Addis Ababa — The Chinese based Shaoxing Mina Textile Company is going to construct a textile and garment factory in Ethiopia. The factory is going to be constructed in Sebeta, Oromia State, at the cost of 15 million USD.
Wei Chang Jun, CEO of the company noted the factory will have a dying and printing under an expansion project being carried out on five hectares of land. The expansion project is expected to be completed in few months. As to the equipment that will be used by the factory, 95 percent of them have already been imported from Italy and South Korea.
The announcement was made following talk that was held between President Mulatu Teshome and the CEO of Shaoxing.
Speaking on the occasion Mulatu said Ethiopia is giving prime attention to support investors that engage in the manufacturing sector. The country extends favorable investment atmosphere, cheap labor, market and geographical location, he furthered.
According to Mulatu, the railway and the expressway that will connect the capital city with Sebeta is going to further enhance investment.
Shaoxing intends to export its products to Europe, USA, Thailand, Turkey and other African countries.
Once the factory starts production it will create up to 5,000 jobs.
