Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (AAiT) – The Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) signed a memorandum of understanding with 24 Food and Beverage industries last week. The agreement was signed on a half day workshop aimed at creating linkage between Addis Ababa Institutes of Technology (AAiT) and industries under Food, Beverage, and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Institute.
The workshop was organized by the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) in collaboration with Food, Beverage, and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Institute “As a center of education, training, and research, AAiT is expected to generate scientific techniques and knowledge that are required by and applicable to manufacturing industries apart from producing quality and skilled manpower,” said AAiT, Deputy Scientific Director Dr. Berhanu Assefa.
Dr Shimeles Admasu, Deputy Director General for Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Institute said on his part that the forum and MoU will help the players have a similar outlook towards the issue of linkage and thereby speeding up national growth.
Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, Director for Research, Technology Transfer and Industry linkage office Dr. Eshetie Berhan also said: AAiT will help the industry grow via conducting applied research and offering consultancy services while the industries will give on job training opportunities to students and instructors thereby strengthening their theories with practice.
