Jimma, Ethiopia — Jimma University conducted the 1st round graduation ceremony of 2014/15 academic year on June 27/2015 in the newly built mini-stadium situated in the main campus of the University. In this colorfully orchestrated event, attended by parents, senate members of the University and invited guests, a total of 2236 (1699 male, 537 female) students were graduated.
The graduates were constituted from colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Natural Sciences, Business and Economics, Education and Behavioral sciences, and from school of Graduate Studies.
After Dr. Fikre Lemessa, President of JU, presented the annual report of the University in brief, Dr. Kaba Urgessa, state Minister of Ministry of Education and the Guest of Honor, delivered speech to the gathering. Dr. Kaba, in his words reminded the graduates about their expected role as of the graduation day and stressed on the importance of the unreserved contributions they should make to the growth and transformation of the country.
The ceremony ended with awarding degrees, certificates of specialization, pins and gold medals to the outstanding graduates.
