The Alle School of Fine Arts and Design, College of Performing and Visual Arts, Addis Ababa University has organized Annual Art Exhibition on 13 August 2015. The exhibition was intended to advertise different arts and fashions designed by graduates the 2015.
Attending the ceremony, Admasu Tsegaye (PhD), AAU President pointed out that due attention has to be given to arts as its contribution is enormous to keep and transfer livelihood of the society. He further emphasized that higher institutions are expected to supply skilled manpower so as to help the country achieve its vision of becoming middle income country.
Guest of honor of the ceremony, First Lady Roman Tesfaye has congratulated the graduates and handed out award for the graduate of the school with exceptional performance. The exhibition has also featured a fashion show which was designed by this year graduates in collaboration with partner institutions.
For more than five decades, Alle School of Fine Arts and Design, the only art school in Ethiopia, has single-handedly produced prominent artists and has contributed to the art community. All notable Ethiopian painters, sculptors, designers, and printmakers have passed through the gates of this School. Founded by Alle Felegeselam, one of Ethiopia’s prominent artists, the School has experienced many ups and downs. Led by a young blood, Berhanu Ashagrie Deribew, head of the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design at Addis Ababa University for more than two years, the art School is presently undergoing a variety of transformations.
