A total of 102 medical doctors graduated from Bahir Dar University (BDU), College of Health and Medical Sciences on 5th Dec 2015. Among the graduates 8 are females.
After six years of meticulous study, the graduates have received their degrees from the guest of honor of the ceremony, Dr Alemayehu Kebede, president of Debre Tabor University.
On a graduation ceremony held at BDU’s main auditorium the graduates have taken Hippocratic Oath to serve their community and the country with their profession.
Speaking on the occasion, dean of the college, Dr Getachew Muluken, while giving congratulating remark, conveyed his gratitude to the graduates for their successful accomplishment. He also appreciated the graduates for the patience and effort they demonstrated in their stay at the college.
Dr. Getachew has also thanked the university community and partners which have collaborated with the graduates and the college and congratulated them as well.
On the opening, president of the BDU, Dr Bayile Damtie, has acknowledged and congratulated the families of graduates, for providing the country, doctors who can take care of the health of citizens.
The president, in his speech, has also congratulated the graduates for their enthusiasm and dedication they have shown in the process of becoming doctors. He also called upon the graduate doctors to serve the community diligently as so much is expected from them.
The University’s Registrar and Alumni Management Directorate Director, Dr Aster Mulu, has presented the graduation declaration speech.
The valedictorian and representative of the graduating batch, Dr Fisha Gebeyehu, after expressing his happiness, has asserted that the graduates readiness to serve the people and improve the healthcare of Ethiopia with higher dedication and commitment.
The occasion was attended by graduates, families of the graduates, the university community and other invited guests.
BDU’s cultural center group has adorned the ceremony with a graduation song and beautified the event with different cultural dances.
