The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology yesterday inaugurated Governmental Mobile App Store (Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia- FDRE App Store) and different Informational Web Portals aimed at providing up-to-date information.
Finance and Economy Cluster Coordinator and Minister of Communication and Information Technology with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael said on the occasion that acknowledging the role of information and communication technology (ICT) enables to support and facilitate the activities of individuals and also national development.
“Especially, to be more effective, while it comes in the form of mobile application, everyone would have the opportunity to access information.”
According to him, the easy accessibility mobile telephones to the society promotes the importance of accessing government mobile app store. To maximize citizen’s access to information technology many portals have been developed earlier and are on service, he added.
The Ministry has also developed such information web portals for other private and governmental organizations which would be launched soon, he said.
The governmental mobile app store was developed by the Ministry in cooperation with Meelogic Consulting AG and Ahadoo Tec ICT Solutions PLC. Ten institutions have the application and would provide latest information.
