KETCHUM―Meklit Hadero’s music is known for its blend of jazz, American folk and Ethiopia’s unique melodies and rhythms.
Meklit Hadero will perform at 7 p.m. April 8, at the Liberty Theater in Hailey. Her performance will conclude the Sun Valley Center for the Arts 2015–2016 Performing Arts Series.
Meklit Hadero is an Ethiopian-born and Brooklyn-raised musician. She names Nina Simone, Edith Piaf, Leonard Cohen, Claude Debussy and Van Morrison among her influences.
She first made her mark on the national music scene in 2010 with the release of her album, “On a Day Like this…” on Porto Franco Records. That release earned her feature stories on NPR, PBS and National Geographic.
“I was first enchanted by Meklit’s singularly unique voice and style, but have been further impressed by her commitment to her community – both locally in San Francisco, and truly as a global citizen and artist,” said Kristine Bretall, director of performing arts at The Center.
Premium seating is $50 for Center member, $60 for nonmembers and $30 for children. Standard seating is $25 for members, $35 nonmember and $15 for children. Prices do not include taxes or processing fees. To reserve your tickets, go to www.sunvalleycenter.org or call 208-726-9491. (Times-News)
