Jimma University has graduated 139 students from its program run in collaboration with Alliance for Better Health (ABH Services Plc) in Addis Ababa on July 10, 2016 at Sheraton Addis Hotel in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mulatu Teshome, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Jimma University’s ABH Services Campus in Addis Ababa has been offering two postgraduate programs, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Masters in Public Health (MPH).
The graduates received their degrees from H.E. Mrs. Aster Mamo, Good Governance and Reform Cluster Coordinator with a rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Civil Service, while outstanding students of both programs in their overall academic performance and research works received special prize and certificate from the Guest of Honor, H.E. Dr. Mulatu Teshome, President of the FDRE.
In his speech to the graduates, H. E. Dr. Mulatu stressed that the graduates should play their role in implementation of the country’s Growth and Transformation Plan and bring about development.
Prof. Fikre Lemessa, President of Jimma University, stated that the University will keep on working to address the high demand of quality education by residents of Addis Ababa and nearby areas by strengthening the already existing public-private partnership. In line to this, the President announced that two new programs will be started in ABH Services Campus as of the new Ethiopian year. The two programs to be started are M. A. in Public Relations and Corporate Communication and M. Sc. in Health Monitoring and Evaluation.
Dr. Markos Feleke, CEO of ABH Services Plc, in his part stated that ABH has collaborated with the prominent public university, Jimma University, in providing postgraduate classes to students while they stay on their regular work and live with their families. Dr. Markos also mentioned that classes has been given during the weekends and after working hours. He also reported that, excluding today’s graduates, there are over 300 students attending at ABH Services Campus currently.
The program is accepting application for the academic year 2016/2017 in four programs (MPH, MBA, MSc. in Health Monitoring & Evaluation and MA in Public Relation & Corporate Communication).
