The President of the Association of the Ethiopian Diaspora, Eriku Geda, told Walta Information Center that the Ethiopian Youth Diaspora Forum will be formed in order to ensure the participation of the Ethiopian youth living in different corners of the world.
According to the president, the formation of the forum will bring the youth under one platform so that they can play their part in the development endeavor of their country.
The president said that the coming together of the youth creates synergy that can benefit both the youth and the society at large beyond ensuring their participation.
According to the Eriku, the forum will be accountable to the association. He said that awareness creation activities have been going on while awareness creation activity has already been carried out in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh and other parts of the Middle East.
Based the information obtained from the association, the formation of the forum will be officially made public on July 23, 2016. In the short run, there is a plan to establish the Ethiopian Diaspora Women Forum as well.
This year’s Diaspora Day will be celebrated in Bahir Dar. The city will host both the Amhara and the federal Diaspora Day.
According to the president, the day will unveil the design of houses slated for the Diaspora community. He said that the design is expected to include 12 to 18 story buildings.
Walta has learned that the association has been in the process of strengthening its office with equipment and human resource apart from dispatching timely information to its members.
Based on information obtained the ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than three thousand Ethiopian Diaspora Members have been registered to participate in the day.
