The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) and Ethiopian Airlines have partnered to promote Zambia as an attractive holiday destination of choice among French vacationers.
The ZTA and Ethiopian Airlines partnership follows a deal that was brokered recently by the Zambian Embassy in Paris, France.
The tourism deal came to fruition when Ministry of Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Stephen Mwansa met Ethiopian Airlines product manager for France, Magali Soulier, at the Zambian Embassy in Paris.
Mwansa and Soulier met on the sidelines of UNESCO’s 6th General Assembly of the state’s parties to the 2003 convention for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, according to a statement issued by First Secretary at the Zambian Embassy in Paris, Percy Ngwira.
The two discussed collaboration between ZTA and Ethiopian Airlines designed to make Zambia an attractive tourist destination of choice for French travelers.
Soulier said Ethiopian Airlines has been monitoring the flow of tourists from France to Zambia, adding that in the past two years, there has been a growing interest among travelers from that country.
“Despite increased inquiries about destination Zambia from French tour operators, among others, there seems inadequate information on Zambia. Therefore, when your embassy approached us proposing partnership for a familiarization tour to Zambia, we didn’t hesitate to come on board and assist.
“To this end, Ethiopian Airlines will be offering 10 full complimentary seats for some selected French tour operators and French media to travel to Zambia from June 21 to 28, 2016.
The group will also have a chance to participate in at the Zambia Tourism Expo 2016, which will be taking place from June 27 to 29, 2016,” Soulier said.
And Mwansa said ZTA is working on a program that will include a visit to Mfuwe South Luangwa National Park, the tourist capital, Livingstone, and participation at the 2016 Zambia Tourism Expo, among others.
Zambia’s Ambassador to France Humphrey Chibanda thanked Ethiopian Airlines for accepting the proposal made by the mission.
