Last spring, Lexie Senior organized a WooHah party to benefit Health Gives Hope, an organization that raises money to bring spring tap water to the town of Bora, Ethiopia.
Bora’s water is not safe for drinking and is the source of many waterborne illnesses and even death in that region.
Health Gives Hope has built a medical clinic to support the area and the organization travels there twice a year on medical mission trips.
Last year’s Woohah Party helped fund the spring water supply system and two of five desired taps. The mountaintop village is made up of five surrounding communities and the system will serve approximately 10,000 people.
But with a goal of five taps there is still work to do.
As someone familiar with the 30A scene, Senior met and enlisted the help of a favorite of the 30A Singer/Songwriter Festival.
The British singer/songwriter known simply as Callaghan has come onboard to help and is teaming up with Senior and Health Gives Hope to perform a one-night-only benefit concert on April 28 at Idyll Hounds Brewery and Tap Room.
“Callaghan has a devoted following on 30A and typically tours the country, performing and recording. She has made this stop especially for this benefit,” said Senior.
An Evening of Music with Callaghan benefit concert will be April 28 from 6-9 p.m. at Idyll Hounds Brewery and Tap Room. Proceeds from the show will go directly to Health Gives Hope to help build a clean-drinking water system for the remote mountain region of Bora.
Enjoy an evening of music and a Southern-style shrimp boil provided by Buddy’s Seafood Market.
Tickets are $65 and $75 at the door. Tickets can be purchased or donations made online at www.healthgiveshope30.com. To learn more about Health Gives Hope, visit www.healthgiveshope.org or contact Senior at 720-560-1739.
