A young maid broke her legs when she jumped out of a second-storey window to escape a wealthy Lebanese family she claims physically abused her.

Lensa Lelisa, 20, claims she was beaten with electric cables and attacked with scissors at the Ajami family’s home in Beirut.

The Ethiopian-born worker travelled to Beirut to work for fashion designer Eleanore Ajami and her family including her adult children Alexis, Crystel and Joe Khalil — in July.

“They beat me with an electric cable, dragged me around the room by my hair, and smashed my head into walls,” she said in a video filmed from her hospital bed.

Ms Ajami runs the fashion label Eleanore Couture, which is beloved by international celebrities including actor Lana Condor and singer Carrie Underwood.

“They tortured me and I couldn’t do anything to save myself,” said Lensa Lelisa, who claims she was attacked daily and not allowed to leave the house.

She claims Joe pushed his fingers into her eyes and tried to attack her with scissors, adding: “Every day he was planning how to attack me.”

Another Ethiopian maid was planning to jump with her, but seeing how badly the girl had hurt herself, decided against it.

The young woman is one of 100,000 Ethiopians employed as domestic workers in Lebanon through the Kafala system.

Workers usually have their passports taken away while their employers control their visa.

Lensa told Lebanon’s International Security Force that “she fell down while she was cleaning” and has had sporadic contact with her family since, according to the Ethiopian Embassy.

But a source close to Lensa Lelisa’s family said she didn’t tell investigators her story out of fear, the Daily Mail reports.
